Agriculture is my passion.... especially if it's sustainable and organic. And, it's thrilling to see so many new ranch and farm ventures developing on our lovely island. The entire Hamakua coast has deep rich volcanic soils. And there are pockets of acreage all over the Island of Hawaii with similar deep soils. One can pick a desired elevation given any particular crop. Low elevation for the tropicals, vanilla, chocolate and flowers; higher elevation for other exotic crops like coffee and tea. Niche organic animal production is also on the rise here on the Big Island of Hawaii. The options are endless. (Search MLS for suitable property.  The resort properties along the Kohala Coast are frequently the winter homes of international and mainland residents. These include single family homes, villas and condos. Buyers frequently buy a vacant lot and build to their own tastes. We also have year round retirees enjoying the luxury of the area as well. We may not see these kinds of prices again for many years.
